The deal, in plain English.

No twelve pages of legalese. This is the whole agreement for a SiteBop monthly plan.

What you're paying for

A monthly plan that covers building out, hosting and looking after your website. If a one-time price for building your website was quoted on this Bop, it is shown above and charged once, today. Otherwise the plan is the whole price.

The site price is final

If a one-time price for building your website was quoted, it is charged once and is non-refundable — all site sales are final. Cancelling your plan ends hosting and support; it does not entitle a refund of the site price.

Billing

Your card is charged today and then on the same day each month until you cancel. Prices are in US dollars and shown before you pay.

Cancelling

Cancel any time and your plan runs to the end of the period you've paid for. We don't pro-rate part periods or refund unused yearly time, and we don't charge you again after you cancel. When the plan ends, so does the hosting — we'll always tell you before anything comes down.

Changes and extra work

Your plan adds editing credits each month. When you ask SiteBop to make a change, credits come off only after the work succeeds, based on the work that actually landed. Failed or declined work costs no credits, and paid top-up credits do not expire. Editing page wording and pictures yourself is free.

Who owns what

Your words, photos, logo and brand stay yours, and we hand those over any time, free. The site build itself stays with us while your plan runs. If your site was purchased through a SiteBop sales representative, we give you the site files when you ask — including the day you cancel. For a standard site, the files are yours after twelve months of paid managed care, and you don't have to wait: pay out the months of care left in your first year as a one-time payment and we hand them over right away.

What we need from you

That you have the right to use the content on your current site, and that you don't ask us to publish anything illegal or misleading.

Publishing changes

The first launch includes connecting your real web address and is confirmed with SiteBop. After that, you can publish finished changes from your SiteBop editor. Publishing does not use credits, and your change history remains available in your account.

Honest limits

We look after the site, but we can't promise specific sales, rankings or traffic numbers. Anyone who does is guessing.

The service contract terms.

The rest of the agreement: approving your site before it launches, who looks after the admin logins, and where our responsibility stops.

Your responsibilities and go-live approval

Before your site's first go-live, you review it and approve it in writing. Written approval means an email, a reply in your project thread, or clicking the approval control in your SiteBop account — whichever is easiest for you.

SiteBop does not complete the first launch or point a domain at your site without that approval. If you ask us to launch, that request is your approval. After the first launch, clicking Put my changes live is your approval to publish that update.

You are responsible for the accuracy of the content you give us or approve: business details, hours, prices, claims, staff names, photos and anything you supply or sign off on. You confirm you have the right to use everything you send us.

  • The first launch happens only after your written go-live approval
  • You check the site for accuracy before approving it
  • You keep your own contact and billing details current so we can reach you

Admin rights and credential management

Your site and account can have administrative users — people who can edit content, change settings and invite or remove others. You decide who those people are.

You are solely responsible for creating, maintaining and promptly revoking administrative access, including immediately when an employee, contractor or agency stops working with you. You are responsible for keeping passwords private and for every action taken under your admin logins.

Tell us straight away if you think an admin login has been shared, lost or used without permission, and we will help you lock it down.

  • Only give admin access to people you trust with your live website
  • Remove access the day someone leaves
  • Never share one login between people

Limits of our liability for admin actions

SiteBop is not liable — financially, operationally or legally — for anything done by an administrative user you created, sponsored or manage. That includes edits, deletions, published content, settings changes, third-party tools they connect, disclosure of information, and any security incident arising from the use or misuse of their credentials.

You agree to cover SiteBop against claims, losses and costs arising from the actions of your administrative users or from content you supplied or approved.

Nothing here removes a right you have that cannot be removed by agreement. Where liability can be limited, our total liability for any claim is capped at the plan fees you paid us in the twelve months before the claim.

Backups, uptime and restoring your site

Your plan includes hosting, security updates and backups. If an admin user or a supplied file breaks something, tell us and we will restore the most recent working backup we hold. Restores are covered by your plan; rebuilding content that was never on the site is quoted first.

We aim to keep your site up and reachable at all times, but we do not promise uninterrupted service. Some outages come from the wider internet, from a domain or DNS you control, or from a third-party tool connected to your site.

Editing credits, direct edits and publishing

Your Care plan adds editing credits each billing cycle. A requested change uses credits only after the work succeeds, based on the work that actually landed. Failed or declined work costs no credits, and paid top-up credits do not expire.

Changing eligible page wording and pictures directly does not use credits. Shared parts of the site, including navigation and footers, and larger design or structural changes go through the written change request instead.

The first launch includes connecting your real web address and requires your approval. After that launch, you can publish finished changes from your SiteBop editor without using credits. Your change history remains available, and the latest eligible completed change can be undone with its credits returned.

Acceptable use and suspension

Your site must not be used to publish anything illegal, deceptive, or infringing, or to send unsolicited bulk email. If a site is being used that way, or a payment stays unpaid after we have told you, we may suspend it. We tell you before anything comes down whenever we possibly can.

Site builds, refunds and handing over your files

The one-time price for building your website covers custom work built to the preview you approved. Once your purchase is complete, the site price is non-refundable — all site sales are final. Cancelling your plan ends hosting and support; it does not entitle a refund of the site price.

If your site was purchased through a SiteBop sales representative, we hand over the final site files when you ask — including the day you cancel your plan.

For a standard site (no sales representative involved), the files are yours after twelve months of completed, paid managed care. You don't have to wait: pay out the months of care remaining in your first year as a one-time payment and we hand the files over straight away.

Either way, your content — text, photos, logos and brand assets — is always yours, and we hand it over any time, free.

  • All site sales are final once purchased
  • Sales-representative sites: files handed over on request, any time
  • Standard sites: files after twelve months of care, or pay out the first year early
  • Your content is always yours, handed over free on request

If SiteBop is ever sold

If SiteBop is bought, merged with another company, or sells the part of the business that runs your site, your agreement transfers to the new owner. The transfer does not change the plan, the price or the terms you signed up on.

The new owner must honor your plan for the period you have already paid for, and we will tell you in writing before the change takes effect. Your content stays yours exactly as it is under these terms today.

If the new owner materially changes your plan or terms, you can cancel before the change takes effect and receive a refund of the unused period you paid for.

  • A sale does not end your plan or change your price
  • You are told in writing before ownership changes hands
  • Your content and site keep running through the transition

Changes to these terms and which law applies

If we change these terms we post the updated version here with a new version stamp, and we tell plan customers by email before the change affects them. Continuing on your plan after that means the updated terms apply.

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Michigan, United States. If any part of them is unenforceable, the rest still stands.
